This unit looks at case studies related to candidates with sensory impairment and the access arrangements in place.

The cases and arrangements described are indicative and designed to show the way evidence is compiled and the rationale in considering access arrangements.

Any candidate with a disability is entitled to have his/her needs addressed on an individual basis.

Case study for hearing-impaired candidate

  • Student B is a student with a long term substantial hearing impairment who is about to start GCSE courses.

Case studies for vision-impaired candidates

  • Student F is a student who is sight impaired with progressive vision loss.

Case study for a multi-sensory-impaired candidate

  • Alicia is a student with multi-sensory impairment who is currently studying GCSE courses.
