There's never been a more exciting time to join Doncaster Council.

We are passionate about Doncaster - it's a great place to live, do business and visit.

We have plenty to shout about - Doncaster is the UK's best connected location, we have many major developments in the pipeline, a vibrant urban centre with a thriving arts and cultural scene, sport and leisure attractions, wonderful green spaces and a fascinating heritage. We firmly believe, as do our partners, that Doncaster is the place to be with a bright future and ambitions ahead of it. But don't just take our word for it - anyone joining the council, can look forward to expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic, creative and nurturing environment while truly making a difference to the communities we serve.

We are looking to appoint a Qualified Teacher for the Visually Impaired (QTVI) to our friendly and dynamic team.

You will already have completed the Mandatory course for QTVIs or be currently studying on it. Our Service supports children from birth to school leaving age in a range of settings including homes, private nurseries, mainstream primary and secondary schools and special schools. Our aim, through a range of specialist programmes is to ensure that our pupils have fair and equal access to the curriculum and become independent adults and confident members of society. We also support children, young people and their families to understand and manage their visual conditions. We can promise you a role in a supportive, hard-working and welcoming team, where no two days will ever be the same. The ability to contribute positively to the VI Service and wider SEN team whilst managing your own caseload will be essential as you carry out the mandatory standards required of a QTVI.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and access to a range of staff discount and flexible benefits schemes. Visit our Working in Doncaster page to find out more.

Shortlisting will take place week commencing 10/6/2019 and it is anticipated that interviews will be held on 14/6/2019.

This post involves working with children and therefore if successful you will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service records check at an enhanced level. Further information about the Disclosure Scheme can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check
