As the largest organisation of blind and partially sighted people in the UK, RNIB is strongly committed to ensuring that children and young people with vision impairment reach their full potential. In addition to our own schools and college, we work closely with specialist teachers and support services, and undertake policy, research and training activities regarding the development and learning of all children and young people who are blind or partially sighted, including those with additional and complex needs.
This post provides a unique opportunity to improve the life chances of blind and partially sighted children and young people throughout the UK as a key member of RNIB’s new CYPF Specialist Services team. You will help to shape our services for teachers and other professionals working in non-specialist education settings and lead on their delivery. You will also play an important part in identifying our research and policy priorities in relation to children and young people.
As a qualified and experienced teacher of children with vision impairment, you will know how to identify good outcomes and best practice in the teaching of children and young people and be skilled in developing and implementing strategies to achieve them. You will be prepared to represent the educational interests of children with vision impairment at a senior national level, responding to government policy, participating in cross-sector initiatives, such as NatSIP, SEC and Vision 2020 and liaising with regulatory bodies such as Ofqual and Ofsted.
