Based: Level 6, Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1TU

As an experienced and/or qualified Advisory Teacher for Vision Impairment you will join our dynamic team of teachers and teaching assistants. You will work across the age and ability range with children, young people, their families, and a range of other agencies in schools and settings to support their achievements and aspirations. We can offer you a friendly, supportive working environment, a full induction and ongoing professional development in this role.

Key responsibilities

•Provide specialist advice and support to schools, settings and other agencies to support the education and achievement of children and young people with a vision impairment
•Work efficiently and effectively to capacity build in schools, settings and with families
•Provide specialist teaching to pupils around key aspects of their learning including the efficient use of ICT
•Work together with others to build self-confidence and success for children and young people with vision impairment

Key Requirements

• Demonstrate effective, up to date, practice in this field
•Have an understating and willingness to embrace change and work in ways that reflect the current person centred agenda
•A creative, flexible approach with a good sense of humour and excellent communication skills
•Experience of teaching children and young people with a visual impairment is desirable and we would prefer a qualified Teacher for Pupils with a Visual Impairment. If you do not hold this qualification you will be required to gain this within three years
