Leeds City Council's Visual Impairment Team is looking to appoint a full time permanent Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired to work within a team of professionals supporting visually impaired children in homes and mainstream and specialist settings. The postholder will contribute to the statutory assessment process, and successful experience of working in partnership with settings and other agencies to improve outcomes for children is essential. Effective communication with young people, families and professionals is a key element of this role, and skills in working supportively with families, and in training adults and positively influencing the practice of others are essential.
The successful candidate will hold the Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired or will be an experienced qualified teacher willing to complete the mandatory qualification within three years of appointment.
This is a peripatetic role and the ability to travel to different settings around the authority is essential.
