Job details

Manchester Sensory Support Service wish to appoint a Teacher to lead on our work with
visually impaired children aged 0-5 years.

Our visually impaired team consists of specialist teachers,teaching assistants and other
specialist staff, all working peripatetically in a variety of settings ranging from pre-school to
further education as well as in the children's homes.

Your role will be to:

 Develop, deliver and embed practice to achieve the best progress and outcomes for
children (0-5) with visual impairment
 Promote partnership working with families, settings and other agencies
 Develop the skills and practice of staff within the Sensory Service, and our partners
 Promote and coordinate the safeguarding of young children
 The appointee may be required to work across the full age range of children and
young people

You will:
 Be a highly motivated and experienced practitioner in the field of visual impairment
and young children
 Be a qualified teacher and you will also hold the specialist qualification as a teacher of
the Visually Impaired.
 Have the ability to produce and implement strategies for young children with Visual
Impairment, and embed them across the team
 Have an up-to-date knowledge of educational practice particularly in relation to Visual
Impairment and early Years as well as an understanding of legislation and practice
relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
 Have a full current driving licence and access to own car for work will be required as
this is a peripatetic role. Alternative arrangements can be made for a disabled
appointee

Manchester Sensory Support Service works across the City of Manchester supporting
children and young people with Visual and or Hearing impairments.
