The role of Habilitation Officer requires an energetic, highly skilled practitioner to support the Senior Advisory Teacher for Vision Impairment and the Team Leader of the Sensory Service. Excellent practice in provision to the pupils, mainstream teachers/support staff, other professionals and children’s families is essential.
The post holder will be expected to collaborate with and work under the direction of qualified teachers of the vision impaired. You must be able to work effectively as part of a team with a clear focus on ‘children first’. We have a significant number of children who are sight impaired or severe sight impaired who need support with developing their mobility, orientation and daily living skills.
The post holder must have a Diploma in Habilitation Studies or equivalent and be experienced in working with the full 0 – 19 age range across all ability levels. An ability to work independently and with high levels of efficiency and self organisation is essential.
