Four x one hour practical online sessions will cover a range of useful strategies to support learner’s who access the primary curriculum using tactile methods

Session 1: Pre-braille Skills: Practical resources and ideas to include the development of braille skills from within the everyday experience of the child.
Monday 6th December. Time: 9.00am – 10.30 am
Session 2: Practical resources and ideas to introduce braille into the curriculum and with suggested activities to make learning braille fun
Monday 13th December. Time: 9.00am – 10.30 am
Session 3: Practical resources and ideas to make the literacy curriculum accessible to tactile learners

2. Positive Eye Course: Positive Looking Online Course
This online visual skills programme focuses on motor visual skills. Presented through a practical resource rich presentation. Designed to support the practitioner’s understanding of each visual skill.
Split across 6 x 1 1/2 hour online sessions
9.00 - 10.30 am GMT for each session
Session 1: 6th January 2022. Setting up the environment and Visual awareness.
Session 2: 13th January 2022. Visual attention and Fixation
Session 3: 20th January 2022. Tracking and Transferring gaze.
Session 4:27th January 2022. Scanning and Visually Directed Reaching.
Session 5: 3rd February 2022. Visual discrimination of objects and Visual discrimination of images.
Session 6: 10th February 2022. Positive Looking in Literacy and within the curriculum
The course includes demonstrations of how to develop each of the motor visual skills. It explores practical ideas and activities to support the practitioner. To help plan targeted interventions and explain observation points. To help assess and identify the child’s responses.

The Sparkly Library of Accessible Stories for families and educators is growing. From across the world educators and parents are coming together to create accessible stories.
A unique collaboration across the ocean between Dr Donna Carpenter Kentucky Deafblind Project and Positive Eye UK . Everyone is welcome to join this event. The library is growing and a website is underway.
