Liverpool Sensory Service wish to appoint a Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired to work in a peripatetic role with schools, early years settings, special schools, colleges and families (0-25) in order to meet the needs of learners with vision impairment, through our Advisory and Teaching programmes!

We work in partnership with families in supporting them and educational settings in promoting children and young people’s development, raising attainment, ensuring maximum access to the curriculum, promoting independence and the development of inclusive practices.

Within the role you will work with schools by teaching specialist knowledge, understanding and skills by implementing the Curriculum Framework for Children with Visual Imapirement. This include the use of specialist IT equipment and software such as Braille and tactile discrimination, speech and magnification software along with incorporating mainstream technology into everyday practise for pupils with vision impairment.

Our service with other agencies by liaising with colleagues across Early Years SEND Service, including Social Care teams and colleagues from Health and voluntary agencies.

You will be a hardworking, motivated professional who has dedication to working in partnership with our stakeholders and seeking to improve the outcomes for all our young people with vision impairment. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, the ability to work independently, and the ability to contribute to the wider team within the Service. Being well organised and able to meet deadlines is essential.

This post is subject to Teachers’ pay and conditions and salary is MPS - UPS £25,714 - £41,604 with an additional allowance of SEN 2 £4,479 for those with mandatory qualification.
