Support - Issues - Issues related to Phase II

Continuing assessment

Phase II is the longest phase of LMA, lasting for many years. Decisions in Phase II most often relate to the need to supplement or change the pupil's use of tools to access literacy (such as access technology). Sometimes they may be about making a change in primary literacy medium itself. This most commonly happens when there is significant change in visual functioning or other within-child characteristics.

The fact that Phase II is conducted on an annual basis makes it possible for the team around the child (including the child him/herself) to make timely and efficient changes that will maximise the child's engagement with literacy in the appropriate medium with the appropriate tools.
