The aim of the 'Understanding visual impairment in children and young people' course is to support the training needs of professionals and parents in order to increase the range, and improve the quality of learning opportunities available to children and young people with visual impairment. The course is studied online and on an individual basis with a variable start date.

Partners in Learning

Partners in Learning is an accredited level 3 BTEC certificate course for teaching assistants, support staff and early years practitioners working in educational settings with children and young people who are blind or partially sighted. The course runs over 12 months with online study and assessment as well as two face to face training days. Students work closely with each other through structured online discussions.

Effective teaching of literacy through braille

If you would like to develop a more in-depth understanding of teaching literacy through braille, you may wish to consider applying for a place on the 'Effective Teaching of Literacy through Braille' online course. This course is offered to QTVIs through VIEW and runs from October to March each year. The tutor-supported programme allows you to study from home using interactive online materials and encourages you to share your ideas and reflections with colleagues. The programme involves continuous assessment through practical activities rather than essays.
