Initial decision
The aim of the first phase is to gather data that will allow the educational team to make an initial decision about the learner's initial learning and literacy media, including:
- documentation of the pupil's use of sensory channels across a range of tasks carried out in a variety of environments
- identification of the general learning media that are most beneficial to the child given his or her sensory abilities
The gathered data also includes:
- information about the opportunities the child has had to be involved in early literacy experiences using vision, touch or hearing
- information from medical and educational sources
