Prepare for Success: exam modification and production online training

Prepare for Success – a new training resource from RNIB and VIEW

Modified Large Print

Education professionals can now enrol for a new online training resource to develop knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles of modification and production used by awarding bodies for Modified Large Print GCSE and GCE examination materials.

Course content

Through studying genuine modifications, referring to best practice guidance, and completing practical exercises, the resource builds confidence for preparing in-house modified large print assessments that replicate the format of those used in formal testing.

Prepare for Success is an essential resource for anyone looking to improve the outcomes for their students with VI.

Cost

The course costs £50 for VIEW members or £70 for non members.

Entry requirements

We expect participants to already be proficient in producing everyday large print materials. To complete any practical activities, they will be able to use the same software they currently use to produce materials. This is in addition to tasks carried out within the virtual learning environment (VLE) used to support the course (Moodle).

Time to compete the course

The length of time to complete the training will vary between participants, depending on prior knowledge and experience, but most can expect to spend a minimum of 10 hours. Anyone new to preparing practice GCSE and GCE exams may want to put aside longer.
