This is a really exciting opportunity to work in a unique school with lots of inspiring and innovative opportunities. The Specialist Outreach Service, consisting of habilitation specialists, specialist reprographics and assistive tech technicians is based at the school and provides a city wide service for children with vision impairments.

The habilitation team delivers support for pupils in schools across the city who require training and intervention to maximise their mobility and independence. As part of the team you will help to develop each child’s individual potential and support them in expanding their horizons, help them to achieve their best, develop self-confidence and flourish as individuals.

Working 18 hours per week flexibly, this role is open to a suitable candidate with a relevant qualification and experience in the habilitation field, working with children and young people who have a vision impairment. The successful candidate will be adaptable, enthusiastic and a self-starter.

Your skills will enable you to carry out assessments in schools and homes, liaise with parents, teachers and a range of other professionals in the field. You must hold a full current driving licence and have access to a car with Class 1 business insurance. The post is subject to enhanced DBS clearance.
You must have experience of working with children and young people with vision impairment from 0-25, including those with additional and/or complex needs.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills who has the ability to time manage, prioritise caseload and be able to work alone.
